#1 – Pores for thought

No matter how often you wash your face, your pores can still clog up with dirt and impurities. Dirty pores dull your skin’s natural radiance and dim your inner glow.

 

There are any number of reasons for pores to become clogged, including an excess of oil as a result of hormonal changes, dry skin conditions, and or pre-existing medical conditions such as hyperhidrosis (overactive sweat glands). Clogged pores result in pimples and blemishes and can be unsightly and embarrassing.

 

Use a gentle skin cleanser to tighten pores and clean out impurities or pollutants that have collected in your pores during the course of the day.

 

#2 – Easy does it

Cleaning out your pores should be a gentle routine that calms, soothes, and nourishes your tired skin back to life.

 

Be sure to use products that do not contain harsh chemicals or soap that could burn and sting your eyes. Take it easy on your skin, cleansing gently. Take your time, and rinse until all traces of cleanser have been removed (taking those dead skin cells along with them).


#3 – Exfoliate

If your skin appears dull and tired, or waxy and washed-out, you could have a build-up of dead skin cells, even if you washed your face just a few minutes ago. Harsh chemicals and soap layers may not always wash off properly.

 

Exfoliating removes the top, dead layer of skin gently, without abrading the deeper, inner layers. Once old, dead skin cells are removed, your skin will be able to breathe again, letting your natural beauty shine through.

 

Remember that leave-on exfoliants will penetrate the skin and should be used with caution no more than 2-3 times per week. Wash-off exfoliants can be used more regularly, but we suggest keeping it to every second day to minimize skin irritation.

 

#4 – Moisturize and protect

Exfoliation strips your skin of its natural oils, resulting in dry skin conditions. Be sure to use hydrating products that lock in your skin’s natural moisture when you moisturize.

 

Protection includes sunscreen; use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30+ daily. 

 

#5 – Longterm maintenance

It is important that you make time for your beauty routines. These personal, peaceful moments force you to sit still and actively take care of yourself.

 

A great time to lock in moisture is after a shower because your pores are still open, thanks to the warmth of the water. Once the wetness of your skin dries completely, that added moisture is soaked into the skin as an additional barrier.
